A guy i work with had a 1st-gen that he loved , traded in for a 3rd gen, that he said was far-and-away better than the 1st-gen, and then he came to me the other day and mentioned that he took a ride in a brand new one (it was a loaner from the dealership)... he’s considering getting a brand new one w/ the SkyActiv engine now.

I just want to try a 1st-gen and see why everybody liked them so much.

I had one also. It was fairly quick by the standards of the time (plus NA) and pretty cheap too (nicely equipped at about $17k) Interior was nice (though the seat material and carpets wore a bit on mine), and fairly quiet. It came in good colors, mine was an 06 in Winning B lue.

Also the most reliable car I’ve ever owned. I did about 125k on nothing but tires and brakes.

Only downsides were rust and it was kind of a gas hog (for an econobox) at 23mpg.
